# Patent Filing Checklist

requirements.*

## Before filing

- [ ] Specification is complete (see Patent Specification Template).
- [ ] Claims are drafted and reviewed (see Claims Template).
- [ ] Abstract is drafted (see Abstract Template).
- [ ] Drawings are complete and formatted to the target office's
      requirements (see Patent Drawings Checklist).
- [ ] Inventor Information Sheet is complete for every inventor.
- [ ] Priority Information Sheet is complete, if claiming priority.
- [ ] Required official forms for the target office are identified and
      completed (see the Documents library, filtered to your office).
- [ ] Filing fees for the target office are confirmed.
- [ ] Any translation requirements for the target office are identified.

## At filing

- [ ] All documents are in the file format the office's e-filing system
      accepts.
- [ ] Application data (inventor names, addresses, title) is consistent
      across every form.
- [ ] A copy of everything submitted is retained.

## After filing

- [ ] Filing receipt / application number received and recorded.
- [ ] Key deadlines (examination request, national phase entry, renewal)
      are noted and calendared.
